ICTSI names new head for Madagascar terminal

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) has announced the appointment of Gassen C. Dorsamy as the new Chief Operating Officer and General Manager for subsidiary Madagascar International Container Terminal Services, Ltd. (MICTSL).

Dorsamy, formerly MICTSL’s Chief Financial Officer, assumes the position previously held by Christian R. Gonzalez, who was earlier named Vice President and General Manager of ICTSI flagship Manila International Container Terminal in the Philippines.

Dorsamy joined MICTSL in September 2005 as a member of the startup team that took over operations at the Madagascar International Container Terminal in Toamasina.

Prior to MICTSL, he was Director for Administration and Finance of the Floreal Group’s Madagascar unit from 1991-2002 and, later, Head of Administration and Finance at Tropic Knits Ltd., Floreal’s unit in Mauritius, from 2002-2005. He was formerly with the Mauritius Central Electricity Board from 1976-1991 serving initially as Senior Internal Auditor and eventually Financial Manager.

At the same time, he was a part-time lecturer in Advanced Accounting at the University of Mauritius. He obtained his Cambridge University School Certificate and General Certificate of Education (advanced level) from the University of London.

He later attended the University of Mauritius for his Diploma in Management Studies where he was awarded the Gold Medal for his exceptional performance. Dorsamy, 57, is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, United Kingdom.

He is Mauritian.
